How to Get Certified

1. Prepare

Learn about the certification requirements and technical instructions and perform pre-certification testing on your product.

2. Apply

Complete your application and contact an authorized laboratory to schedule third-party testing.

3. Test

Have your product tested by an authorized laboratory.

4. Certify

When your product passes testing, the Certification Authority issues a Certificate of Conformity making your product AllJoyn Certified.

5. Promote

Include the AllJoyn Certified mark on your product and marketing materials.

Only after the Certification Authority has issued a Certificate of Conformity, you have earned the right to use AllJoyn Certified mark on the certified product(s).

No. You cannot use any AllSeen Alliance or AllJoyn logos/marks/trademarks to promote products that have not gone through the “AllJoyn Certified” program.

Yes. However, the products cannot wear any AllSeen Alliance or AllJoyn logos or marks. Only products that have successfully passed the “AllJoyn Certified” program earn the right to use the certified mark. Products that have not passed the “AllJoyn Certified” program also do not benefit from the AllSeen Alliance patent pledge.

Membership is not required to get your product certified. 

You should get your product certified so that: 1) Your customers will know that your product is part of the worlds largest IoT ecosystem meaning it can discover, communicate, connect and interact with millions of other AllJoyn Certified devices. 2) You gain the benefits of IP protection that come with being AllJoyn Certified. A third-party lab tests your product to ensure that it meets the conformance and interoperability requirements of the AllJoyn Certified program. The actual certification is granted by the AllSeen Alliance’s Certification Authority.

There is one AllJoyn Certified program and only one certification. That makes it easy for you and your consumers. You can find full details of the program on the Certification Administration Web Tool.

The cost depends on what is required to certify the product. For example, when the product is merely a rebranding of an earlier certified product, only a small listing fee is required. See certification pricing for details.

When a product successfully passes and secures AllJoyn Certified certification, it is registered in the AllJoyn Certified Products Database and earns the right to wear the AllJoyn Certified mark. This means that consumers can easily identify products, applications and services that they know will work together consistently and reliably. Products undergo a 4-step process (Prepare, Apply, Test, Certify) and when they pass, they are granted “AllJoyn Certified” status, along with all of the benefits of being designated “AllJoyn Certified”. Please refer to the Certification Administration Web Tool for more details.

A testing tool is available to self-test your product before it is sent to the labs for the official certification testing. However, self-certification is not an option under the “AllJoyn Certified” program.

No. The authorized test lab you used for testing will send your results to the AllSeen Alliance’s Certification Authority. The AllSeen Alliance’s Certification Authority grants the AllJoyn Certified status for products that have successfully met the criteria of the program and issues the Certificate of Conformity. A test lab is available in Europe now. US Test Lab and Asia Pacific Lab will be available towards the end of the year.
